July 20, 2010 Total Solar Eclipse From Argentina On Sunday, 2010 July 11, a total eclipse of the Sun was visible from within a narrow corridor that traverses Earth's southern Hemisphere. The path of the Moon's umbral shadow crossed the South Pacific Ocean where it made no landfall except for Mangaia (Cook Islands) and Easter Island (Isla de Pascua). The path of totality ended just after reaching southern Chile and Argentina. The Moon's penumbral shadow produced a partial eclipse visible from a much larger region covering the South Pacific and southern South America.

July 12, 2010 Harvey Pekar — 1939 - 2010 Called the Mark Twain of comic books, Harvey Pekar, author of the graphic novel American Splendor was found dead today in his Cleveland Heights home. Pekar and his wife, Joyce Brabner, wrote Our Cancer Year, a book-length comic, after Pekar was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer in 1990 and underwent a grueling treatment. Here, Pekar talks in 2007 about his life and the future of his expanding and evolving medium.
